Dose-saving effect of an ibuprofen + paracetamol combination on treatment of acute respiratory viral infections
Respiratory tract infections (mostly viral ones) top a morbidity structure in adults and children both in the Russian Federation and worldwide. Hyperthermia that has a protective function initially, but becomes an abnormal process quickly, is one of the most severe ARVI manifestations. The need for fever relief is associated with its effect on a patient’s quality of life and involvement of many organs and systems in maladaptive pathological processes. In case of fever, administration of ibuprofen + paracetamol combinations is justified and recommended in the current approvals. The paper substantiates a possibility of a paracetamol + ibuprofen dose minimization. The author suggests a term "dose-saving" for fixed combinations of paracetamol + ibuprofen. Keywords: acute respiratory tract infections, acute respiratory viral infections, fever, ibuprofen, paracetamol, dose-saving effect. For citation: Knorring G.Yu.
