Electrocatalysis of the Ni-/Ti-Mesh Anode for Electro-Reforming of Urea Aqueous Solutions to H2 by the SPE Electrolysis
The electro-reforming of urea aqueous solutions has attracted attention as one of the H2 production methods. The effective Ni/Ti-mesh anode for the SPE electrolysis (solid polymer electrolyte) using AEM (anion exchange membrane) for the urea electro-reforming was reported. In this work, the Ni(O)OH intermediate species on the Ni/Ti-mesh anode was determined by in situ XAFS measurement. Good material balances of N and C in the oxidation products were clarified by ion-chromatograph analysis. Whole reaction paths and mechanisms on the Ni/Ti-mesh anode were proposed.
