Interpretation in the Shaping Formation of a Building During a Concept Design Phase, as Part of the Idea of the Beautiful

The current paper is a part of a two-part article series which summarizes the process of shape formation of a building during a concept design phase of community buildings and spaces, via the perspective of Immanuel Kant’s idea of beauty. As a response to the already commonly established and mass-produced practices in the design process itself, the concept process is examined in detail. Via the strategies followed by the interpretation and innovation methods, along with their subdivisions, this paper prompts the idea of authenticity and individual approach within the process of creation in architecture. In this first part of the series, the author’s ambition is to investigate the interpretation method in its entirety. Furthermore, he puts an emphasis on the different approaches within this method, along with its subdivisions by underpinning each approach with specific examples of the architectural reality, be it in Bulgaria or the rest of the world. Those approaches are namely the first step within a process of innovation.
