Impact of Domestic Sewage on Water Quality of Kosi River, Within Sultanpur Patti, Us Nagar, Uttarakhand, India

This research paper focused on selected physico-chemical characteristics. (Temperature, total solids, total dissolved solids, turbidity, transparency, velocity, dissolved oxygen, Bio-chemical oxygen demand, and chlorides) characteristics of River Kosi and sewer drain of Sultanpur Patti within Sultanpur Patti analyzed during 2022. The study also assessed the immediate impact of the sewer drain on the water quality of the Kosi River. Four sampling points: Kosi River (Before 500 m from sewage), sewage zone, confluence zone (where sewage and river water meet), and dilution zone (500 m ahead of confluence zone). It was found that the sewage of Sultanpur Patti certainly impacted the water quality of the Kosi River. . KEYWORDS :River Kosi, Bio-chemical oxygen demand, Turbidity, Sultanpur patti
