Phyto-Plankton Diversity at Selected Sites in River Kosi, Uttarakhand, India
The phytoplankton diversity and seasonal fluctuations in the Kosi River in two districts of the state of Uttarakhand are investigated in this study. Phytoplankton diversity is a dependable indicator of changes in water quality and one of the most important biological elements in assessing water quality. Phytoplanktons are essential members of the aquatic community because they are at the base of the food chain and provide a significant amount of physiologically relevant organic carbon. In 2022, samples were collected from January to December to assess the variety of the phytoplankton. Phytoplankton. Overall biodiversity has drastically decreased as a result of human activity in and around the river. Bacillariophyceae (58%) were the most prevalent group in phytoplankton diversity, followed by Chlorophyceae (39%) and Cyanophyceae (3%). .
