Modern devices of JSC Soyuztsvetmetavtomatika for monitoring aerosols and fixing spills of aggressive media

Data on new developments of JSC Soyuztsvetmetavtomatika in the field of environmental protection are presented. The purpose of the new devices is to determine the concentration of aerosols of sulfuric acid and sodium hydro xide in the air of the work area and emissions from industrial enterprises. The new GRANT-KSH device is described, designed to detect aerosols of caustic alkali released during chemical and metallurgical processes and measure their concentration. Measuring the concentration of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and caustic alkali (NaOH) aerosols in enterprise emissions is required to optimize technological processes and ensure the environmental safety of personnel and the environment. In addition, the importance of solving the problem of controlling potentially dangerous situations associated with a sulfuric acid spill is shown. In this regard, the SAKS-1 sulfuric acid spill alarm was created. The operation of the device is based on measuring the amount of current flowing through the sensor element or the voltage generated at its electrode. The SAKS-1 alarm consists of a control unit and converters with electrochemical sensors placed in special adapters. The number of converters, determined by the number of potentially dangerous leak points, ranges from 1 to 8. The device is included in the State Register of Measuring Instruments of the Russian Federation and is supplied to many enterprises. Along with sulfuric acid, alkalis are also widely used in many industries: as electrolytes, for the production of fertilizers, in medicine, chemical, cosmetic industries, in fish farming for pond sterilization, for saponification of fats, for the manufacture of oils in the refining process, as a catalyst and reagent in chemical reactions. The maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of sulfuric acid in the air of the working area is 1 mg/m3, and the maximum concentration of sodium hydroxide is 0.5 mg/m3.

Abstract

Data on new developments of JSC Soyuztsvetmetavtomatika in the field of environmental protection are presented. The purpose of the new devices is to determine the concentration of aerosols of sulfuric acid and sodium hydro xide in the air of the work area and emissions from industrial enterprises. The new GRANT-KSH device is described, designed to detect aerosols of caustic alkali released during chemical and metallurgical processes and measure their concentration.
