Comparative analysis of devices for determination of pulp granulation

The article considers various methods for analyzing the granulometric composition of process products. The theoretical basis for conducting analysis using these methods is provided. Both positive and negative features of the methods are noted. An assessment of their use in process control systems is given. Next, an in-depth analysis of alternative methods for monitoring and assessing the granulometric composition of pulp products is carried out. In this case, the analysis was carried out on specific samples of industrial devices for monitoring the granulometric composition of both Russian and foreign manufacture. The use of the sedimentation method in automatic mode is considered using the example of the domestic granulometer-densitometer Gran-P (LLC Uralavtomatika Engineering). It is noted that for each type of ore, individual calibration of the Gran-P granulometer should be performed at the customer's site. The laser diffraction method is considered using the PSI 500i analyzer from Metso Outotec (Finland). The advantage of this method is shown, which lies in the reliability of the analysis of particle distribution by volume, and the absence of the need for external calibration, however, a complex chain of operations for preparing the sample for analysis is noted. The ultrasonic transillumination method is considered using the DF-PSM granulometer from DFMC (China). It is noted that the DF-PSM device can measure several granulometric fractions and concentrations at the same time. The method of contact measurement of particle size is considered in detail using two devices as an example: granulometers DF-PSI (DFMC, China) and PIK-074P, JSC Soyuztsvetmetavtomatika. In conclusion, based on the results of the analysis, it is concluded that the contact (direct measurement) method is generally more preferable for monitoring grinding processes, which is confirmed by the number of implemented PIK-074P granulometers in Russia and abroad.
