Influence of electromagnetic stirring on the structure and microsegregation of chemical elements in continuously cast billets of 26KhGMFA steel
High productivity and reduction of waste during continuous steel casting ensured the priorityuse of this technology in metallurgical production. However, the manifestation of chemical heterogeneity, in particular microsegragation processes, can reduce the quality of the resulting continuously cast billet (CCB) due to possible macrostructure defects after heat treatment. In order to assess the influence of external influences on this process, the features of dendritic liquation development during CCB casting from 26KhGMFA steel using electromagnetic stirring (EMS) were studied. Constancy of the content of chemical elements in the axes of dendrites along the radius of the billet was revealed, as well as an increase in their concentration in the zone of differently oriented globular dendrites, which is due to the coarsening of the structure in this area. The pilot billet is characterized by a more favorable structure with a shift in axial looseness closer to the center, which causes an increase in the yield of the product along with an increase in the quality of the metal. In order to improve the technology of using EMP in continuous casting of blanks, it is necessary to identify the optimal technological parameters and electrical characteristics of the process, ensuring the possibility of controlled development of microsegregation heterogeneity in the continuous casting process. The research was carried out at the expense of the funds of the development program “Priority 2030” of VSTU, within the framework of scientific project No. 6/643-24.
