Historical library science in the views of A. N. Vaneev: methodology and methods of historical research

The article examines the main methodological approaches of A. N. Vaneev on historical library science and the possibility of their use in the current situation. His views, based on historical approaches are the most important to evaluate now, since libraries are looking for their own path of development. The scientific material is interspersed with personal memories and scientific comments by the author. A separate section is devoted to Anatoly Nikolaevich’s publications in the journal "Bibliosphere". The author concludes that the methodological provisions that A. N. Vaneev expressed and relies on remain relevant.
