Audiophilia in the context of modern auditory culture

Audiophilia is one of the phenomena of modern auditory culture. In the form of a special love for listening and sound, it manifests itself in a person’s desire to get a supersensible auditory experience with the help of properly selected music and its media, sound reproducing equipment, characteristics of the place where music is listened to and other factors that, for objective and subjective reasons, can affect the sound quality. Despite the attention of foreign researchers to this phenomenon, the analysis of audiophilia has not received due attention and development in the Russian scientific tradition. In this regard, complementing the previously indicated vectors of understanding this phenomenon, the article also proposes to approach the study of the phenomenon of audiophilia not only in the form of private or individual practices of artificial construction of the auditory in modern culture, but also as a phenomenon that, in an expanded version of its interpretation, reflects the general trend towards the ubiquitous environment of daily human life with audio accompaniment.
