Occurrence of Featherwing Beetles (Coleoptera: Ptiliidae) on Polypore Fungi (Basidiomycota: Agaricomycetes) in Costa Rica and a New Species of Cylindrosella Barber, 1924
Ptiliidae (Coleoptera) were extracted from various polypore fungi collected throughout Costa Rica during 2007 through 2009. Host fungi and Ptiliidae were identified to the level of genus and collection sites were mapped. Ptiliid genera inhabited different polypore genera and had a higher rate of co-occurrence than reported in previous studies. A new species of Ptiliidae, Cylindrosella costariciensis Topolski and Oseto, new species, is described.
