Classic of Russian library science

The article reflects the professional path and scientific achievements of the classic of Russian library science A. N. Vaneev. The importance of theoretical, methodological and methodical publications and papers of the scholar is noted as well as the influence of the ideas and concepts contained in them on solving practical problems arising in the activities of libraries. The author emphasizes the scientific interest of A. N. Vaneev in the topic of best practices of libraries, which was evaluated by the scholar as a valuable tool for improving various areas of their activities. Attention is paid to the issues of dissemination of best practices within libraries of various type-specific structures. It is emphasized that A. N. Vaneev founded his own scientific school and has successors. The article gives examples of evaluation of scientific creativity of a scholar by the largest representatives of the scientific library community.
