Designed and development of 2.45 GHz cross-slot microstrip patch antenna for empowering hyperthermia treatments
A novel cross-slot antenna is presented for superficial hyperthermia applications within the 2.45 GHz ISM band. The design achieves an operating frequency of 2.45 GHz through optimal placement of a 50-Ω coaxial feed, resulting in a reflection coefficient of –20.08 dB. The innovative cross-slot structure combined with trimmed patch corners produces a compact antenna with dimensions of 50 × 50 × 1.6 mm3, significantly reducing size while maintaining robust frequency performance. With an input power of 3.9 mW, the specific absorption rate (SAR) is calculated as 404.15 W/kg. The antenna exhibits a directive radiation pattern with a gain of – 5.1 dB. Both simulated and measured results are in strong agreement, demonstrating that the proposed design offers superior performance compared to existing solutions and holds great promise for effective hyperthermia treatment.
