Solvent‐ and Transition Metal‐Free Mechanochemical Synthesis of 2‐Thiazolines and S‐Thiocarbamates

For the first time, the mechanochemical synthesis of five‐membered N,S‐heterocyclic 1,3‐thiazolines and S‐thiocarbamates has been performed starting from chloroalkyl iso(thio)cyanates, thiols, as well as dithiols, in the presence of cheap and commercially available potassium carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ) as a catalyst. The experimental conditions are optimized to allow the effective formation of attractive materials with significant medicinal potential in yields above 95% in transition metal‐ and solvent‐free conditions. The reactions are efficient and easily scalable to gram quantities, offering substantial benefits for practical applications.
