NiSe@La-FeNi3 Electrocatalysts Enable Efficient Water Splitting

As a clean hydrogen production strategy, the electrolysis of water has attracted wide attention in recent years. However, its development is limited by its sluggish reaction kinetics and poor conversion efficiency. Herein, we report NiSe@La-FeNi3 nanorod composite catalysts prepared through hydrothermal and electrodeposition routes. This indicates that the introduction of a La atom regulates the morphology of the product and exposes numerous active sites. The prepared electrocatalyst presents an overpotential of 34 eV at a current density of 10 mA cm–2 in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The electrodes drive overall water splitting in a two-electrode system at 50 mA cm–2 with a 1.68 V voltage window. This work offers a viable approach to design efficient composite catalysts.
