WATER AND SEDIMENT QUALITY OF THE DETAILED CANAL NETWORK IN THE UPPER PART OF THE TISA BASIN
In the context of circular economy, wastewater is seen as a resource rich in energy, nutrients, and water that can be recycled. Instead of the traditional linear approach, the circular model allows for reuse and reduces the negative environmental impact. This paper explores the potential of wastewater valorization through biogas production, nutrient recovery, and water recycling. Special attention is given to improving energy efficiency in WWTPs and the application of the water footprint concept as a tool for sustainable water resource management
