Effects of low-dose radiation on neurological diseases
The impact of natural radioactive substances in our living environment, along with the increasing exposure to low-dose radiation from medical diagnostics and occupational activities, has become a significant concern. Epidemiological studies suggest that low-dose radiation induces physiological changes that may influence the development of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer disease (AD), Parkinson disease (PD), and stroke. However, the causal relationship between low-dose radiation and these diseases remains unclear. The role of low-dose radiation in the onset of neurological disorders, as well as its potential positive effects on nervous system disease models, is still ambiguous. This paper aims to explore the influence of low-dose radiation on the pathogenesis of AD, PD, and stroke, providing a comprehensive summary of its effects on neurological health.
