Asynchronous Replication Strategies for a Real-Time DBMS

Real-time mission-critical services that handle large-scale consumer facing applications typically use a real-time DBMS that can provide both high performance as well as high availability. The only sure way to ensure that such services can survive catastrophic infrastructure failures is to deploy the DBMS as well as the applications themselves on multiple sites that are hundreds (or even thousands) of miles apart from each other.

Abstract

Real-time mission-critical services that handle large-scale consumer facing applications typically use a real-time DBMS that can provide both high performance as well as high availability. The only sure way to ensure that such services can survive catastrophic infrastructure failures is to deploy the DBMS as well as the applications themselves on multiple sites that are hundreds (or even thousands) of miles apart from each other.
