STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF THE MACROZOOBENTHOS COMMUNITY OF THE PROMUKLICA SPRING (PEŠTER PLATEAU)
Karst systems, such intermittent karst spring, are important for biodiversity conservation. This study analyzes the structure and function of the macrozoobenthos community in the Promuklice spring on the Pešter Plateau during 2016 and 2017. Sampling revealed an average density of 3,216 individuals/m² and the presence of 20 taxa. Crustacea and Trichoptera were the most dominant groups, while shredders prevailed in the trophic structure. Although no statistically significant seasonal or annual differences were observed, physicochemical factors showed an influence on specific groups. Despite variable discharge and the unique nature of the spring, results indicate stable conditions and a preserved functional structure
