Epithetation of Silence and Stillness in M. Tsvetaeva’s Texts
The article describes the cognitive-semantic principles of modeling the concept of "silence" by means of attributive vocabulary in M. Tsvetaeva’s texts. Epithetation is recognized as one of the main ways of representing knowledge about an object in the poet's idiostyle. The creativity of M. Tsvetaeva served as the material for the research. This article analyses of the main directions of epithetation of the concept, among which the leading place is occupied by anthropomorphic metaphor; the world of artifacts is also actively involved in epithetation. Attention is drawn to the blending nature of epithetation, consisting in the creation of a common, and then mixed mental space within the epithet complex containing common attributes of the object of epithetation and the epithet. The associative community of attributes is temporary, occasional, but necessary and natural within the idiostyle, it is total, unlimited. The productivity of applying the theory of conceptual integration in describing the mechanisms of epithetation is noted.
