Functional and Stylistic Approach to the Teaching Russian Grammar in Chinese Universities (Realization of Category of Causality in Colloquial Speech)

The article studies actualization of the functional-semantic category of cause in Russian colloquial speech. The purpose of the work is to determine the features of functioning of the entire complex of causal constructions in this speech variety in order to create a factual basis for studying the topic of "expressing causal relations". The material of the analysis is published recordings of colloquial speech, 100 thousand words usages. The qualitative-quantitative method, widely used in functional stylistics, was used for the study. It was found that in colloquial speech, only complex sentences joined asyndetically and, to a lesser extent, complex sentences with a subordinate clause of cause have a high frequency of use. The use of causal linguistic means in colloquial speech is determined primarily by such communicative tasks as explaining one's life circumstances to the interlocutor, motivating an opinion on any issue, encouraging the addressee to do something, prohibiting the performance of certain actions, explaining assessments, desires, one's own or someone else's emotional state.
