Communicative Ostentation in Legal Discourse
The article is devoted to the functional peculiarities of ostentatious slant in legal discourse. The purpose of the study is to identify the means of communicative ostentation realization, determining the types of ostentation and its functions in the speech of a lawyer. As a result of the analysis, it was established that communicative ostentation in legal discourse functions in its narrative and manipulative varieties of a neutral, positive and negative nature. The means of its implementation are emotionally appellative nominatives containing I-valency, performative warnings, assertives, constatives, personal reminiscences, epithets and metaphors combined with hyperbole, syntactic parallelism, lexical repetition, inversion, interjection-intensifiers, expressive clichés and phraseological units. Extralinguistic means include intonation and semantic emphasis, demonstrative actions and expressive kinesic units. The pragmatic functions of ostentatious slant fulfil a major role as well.
