Assessment of stress-strain state of earth dams considering elastoplastic properties of soils

The paper provides a detailed overview of well-known publications devoted to assessing the stress state of earth dams. The study of the stress-strain state of earth dams, considering the nonlinear, inelastic properties of soil and inhomogeneous features of the structure, is an urgent task. This article is devoted to the development of a model and a method for assessing the stress-strain state of earth structures, taking into account the elastic-plastic properties of soil under static influences.Using the principle of virtual displacements and variable parameters of elasticity, a mathematical model was developed to assess the stress-strain state of earth structures. To assess the stress state of earth dams under the action of mass forces and hydrostatic pressure of water, a methodology, an algorithm and computer programs were developed using the procedure of the finite element method and variable parameters of elasticity. The stress-strain state of an earth dam with a height of 190 m was investigated taking into account the elastic-plastic properties of soil, inhomogeneous features of the structure under the influence of mass forces and different levels of filling the reservoir with water. The influence of the elastic-plastic properties of soil and the level of filling the reservoir with water on the stress-strain state of the dam was estimated.
