Research on Designing Personalized Exhibition Descriptions for Museum Visitors
Museums are representative spaces, freely visited by visitors, and it is essential that they try to provide the information that visitors want. However, most museum presentations provide one-size-fits-all descriptions. Therefore, this study aims to classify types of visitors according to their motivations for visiting and their information consumption styles, and to provide appropriate directions for designing customised exhibition descriptions for each type of visitor. Although many studies have discussed visitors' motivations for visiting museums, there is a lack of research linking them to the differentiation of exhibition descriptions. Therefore, this study analyses the types of museum visitors into five types by reviewing previous studies. Accordingly, this research proposes the design of museum descriptions for each type of visitor using specific examples. In order to provide a variety of media, it is necessary to conduct basic research on the design to the consumption type of visitors. The significance of this study is that it classifies the different ways in which visitors access information and proposes a basis for designing effective exhibition descriptions. The results of the proposal can provide practical guidance for museums to create tailored descriptions for visitors in the future, ultimately improving the quality of the visitor's museum experience.
