Systematic Review of Security for Health Records Using Blockchain
IoT has deeply permeated almost every walk of life, and smart healthcare has emerged as one of the major domains that stands out as one of the prime sectors reliant on the infrastructure and solutions involving IoT. IoT-empowered smart healthcare has further enhanced the field of medicine by introducing wearable and mobile devices, facilitating diagnosis that is even more efficient, accurate, and timely, due to extensive sharing of health data. It is also subject to various challenges and unresolved issues arising due to traditional security approaches in smart healthcare. It also possesses special security requirements, while recently blockchain technology is showing promising solutions for addressing security concerns. The paper presents an in- depth review of the challenges and unresolved issues in smart healthcare due to traditional security methods, together with unique security requirements in the sector. It also looks at the potential of blockchain technology as a strong security solution and discusses unique challenges within healthcare while offering an analysis of different blockchain- based security approaches.
