5G QoS: Enhancing QoS in 5G Networks using Multi-Protocol Label Switching
5G networks have evolved to a huge extent now. Ensuring a consistent Quality of Service (QoS) for different traffic types is always a challenge. The project emphasizes on the use of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) to enhance QoS in 5G environments. It focuses on performance metrics like latency, jitter, and packet loss. MPLS was implemented using Python library Scapy. We made use of Label-Switched Paths (LSPs) to optimize traffic routing for different services like eMBB, URLLC, and mMTC. MPLS works on the principle of assigning labels to packets. It allows the creation of Label-Switched Paths (LSPs) to optimize routing efficiency and simplify forwarding decisions. It ensures that traffic is routed according to the QoS requirements, with LSPs for different types of traffic (eMBB, URLLC, and mMTC). Traffic engineering techniques are implemented to enhance performance by reducing latency and packet loss and at the same time managing jitter. Through simulations, we analyzed the impact of MPLS on network performance by using various parameters.
