Development of DSP based Adaptive Sliding Mode Controller for Photovoltaic System

Modern micro-grids have tightly regulated power electronic loads that exhibit negative incremental impedance and threatens the voltage stability. For all commercial and industrial applications, it is strongly encouraged to adopt DC power at a certain voltage leveled -DC converters must be utilized to regulate the unregulated DC power because the source cannot easily offer such regulated DC power. In order to endure unexpected and severe load changes, this study recommends maintaining a DC-Link voltage in an IoT-based sliding mode controller for a multi-port cascaded DC-DC converter system. Initially, an open loop simulation of the multi-port cascaded DC-DC LLC resonant converter was conducted in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. More ripple content is shown in the findings from the DC-Link. Hence, a PID controller and a sliding mode controller have each been modeled using transfer function and state-space equations, and simulations have been carried out under various load situations. The results obtained using the sliding mode controller has been compared with the results obtained using the conventional PID controller and it shows that the ripple at the DC-Link is much reduced to 2.4%.The findings indicated that the sliding mode controller outperforms other controller in terms of response time and the reduction of ripples at the dc link. A prototype of sliding mode controller-based DC-DC converter system has been developed using the TMS320F28379D processor are presented and discussed.
