A Survey on the performance based implementation of Advanced Encryption Standard
A key component of contemporary cryptography, the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is widely used in applications needing effective and safe data encryption. This paper offers a thorough examination of the many approaches used to optimize throughput, power, area, and latency—the four main performance metrics in AES implementations. The paper emphasizes methods specific to hardware and software platforms, including pipeline topologies, S-Box transformations, and datapath optimizations. It illustrates the benefits and trade-offs of these approaches by examining numerous implementations in high-performance systems and the Internet of Things. This paper provides useful information for developing AES systems that balance resource and performance limitations while satisfying certain application needs.
