A Decentralized, Energy-efficient cloud architecture for sustainable computing
Cloud computing has transformed the digital landscape by enabling scalable, on-demand resource access. However, centralized architectures (e.g., Google Cloud) face challenges such as high energy consumption, carbon emissions, single points of failure, and cybersecurity risks. This paper proposes a decentralized computing model that leverages energy-efficient residential nodes to distribute workloads. By replacing large-scale data centers with a distributed network, the system reduces environmental impact, enhances fault tolerance, utilizes idle hardware, and improves security through task fragmentation and encryption. Additionally, it lowers operational costs by minimizing cooling requirements and power consumption, making computing more accessible and affordable.Theoretical analysis confirms the model’s feasibility, efficiency, and resilience, highlighting its potential to reshape cloud computing.
