Resonance Mode Selection of Mean-Frequency Power Supply and Importance Analysis of the High-level Radioactive Waste Liquid Treatment Facility in a Newly-Built Large Nuclear Chemical Plant

In the nuclear fuel cycle, a large amount of spent fuel processing residue is generated during the co-decontamination process, which contains most of the fission products from spent fuel and has high radioactivity, high heat release, and strong toxicity. This kind of high-level radioactive waste liquid is highly fluid, which makes it difficult to dispose of and causes significant environmental harm. Therefore, it is necessary to convert these high-level radioactive waste liquid into a solid form before deep geological disposal. At present, the most mature treatment technology of high-level waste liquid in the world is the vitrification in Joule heating ceramic electric melter. The purpose of vitrification is to inject the molten radioactive waste and glass mixture in the ceramic electric melter safely and stably into the product container under the action of gravity, so it is essential for the glass melt to maintain a molten state of fluidity in all positions in the melter, especially in the glass pouring tube. This means that electrical designers need to use current proven technology to design the power supply heating scheme to ensure that the high temperature in the glass pouring tube is constant. This paper mainly introduces the role and principle of mean frequency power supply system in vitrification engineering, compares and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of parallel resonance and series resonance and makes a reasonable choice. Moreover, the role and necessity of the application of parallel resonance in vitrification technological process are elaborated, especially the important role in ensuring nuclear safety. Finally, the application prospect of mean frequency power supply system with parallel resonance in larger vitrification projects in the future is prospected.
