Tribological and Mechanical Aspects of Polymeric Composites Reinforced Utilizing Scallop Shell, Egg Shell and Alkali-Treated Prosopis Juliflora

Brake pads play a vital role in automobiles, with tribology and mechanical performance being critical factors to consider. Copper-based pads eventually took over the position of asbestos brake pads, which were widely utilized. Synthetic composites are actively researched as potential substitutes as braking materials get better. Recent research indicates that composites are emerging as effective friction materials. However, their application is hindered by inadequate thermal conductivity and frictional stability. Enhancing the fibers through surface treatments and incorporating secondary fillers can improve their flexibility. Therefore, the combination of supporting materials expands their application areas. This article tries to focus on the application and evaluation of wild fruit powder, egg powder and scallop shell powder in brake pads by focusing on natural materials. Their products are examined to determine their ability to meet the requirements. This article examines the products of prosopis juliflora powder, egg powder and scallop shell powder that have been relevant to brakes in recent years. Natural compounds hold considerable promise for advancing the development of friction materials in automotive applications. The composite was tested according to ASTM standards and the results were positive. Based on the results, the integrated model was developed and tested for clarity. Taguchi's method and transformation analysis were used to obtain the optimal results of wear resistance and abrasion resistance. The comparison of the tests and analyses shows that the mixed materials of prosopis juliflora, egg shell powder and scallop shell powder composite can be used as alternate materials for more effective brake pad.
