The use of DXA scan x-ray absorptiometry to determine the relationship between pre and post-menopausal women in the Kirkuk governorate
Osteoporosis is a chronic condition that profoundly affects physical activity levels and significantly diminishes quality of life. It can be efficiently diagnosed using DXA scan, DXA scan enables healthcare providers to offer precise advice on fracture prevention and treatment strategies. Compared to other bone densitometry methods, DXA provides several advantages, including widely accepted interpretation of bone mineral density (BMD) results depend on the value of (T-score) criteria for osteoporosis. It also demonstrates a reliable ability to evaluate fracture risk, identify individuals who could benefit from therapeutic interventions, and monitor response to treatment over time. In this paper we used DXA device to scanning 99 patients attending Azadi Teaching Hospital in the Kirkuk city, Iraq, and we divided them in to two groups: premenopausal group contained 49 and post-menopausal group contained 50. The results showed the osteoporosis disease is more common among post-menopausal women comparing to premenopausal women.
