TWO APPROACHES TO THE ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING OF URBAN TRANSPORT SYSTEMS: ANALYSIS AND COMPARISON

The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of two publications: the monograph by V. A. Fedorov «Urban passenger transport in St.Petersburg: politics, strategy, economics (1991–2014)» and the book «Urban Planning and Transport Behavior in the Russian Federation» (under the general editorship of V. V. Donchenko), based on the methods of content analysis and frequency analysis. The application of the proposed methods makes it possible to determine the difference in approaches to the study of transport problems in large cities and ways to solve them. At the same time, the first work focuses on socio-economic and organizational aspects of transport system management, and the second on transport planning.
