Prospects for the Development of Multi-Storey and Low-Rise Wooden Housing Construction from CLT Panels in the Russian Federation

The reality of the present time is that Russia is the state against which the maximum number of sanctions have been applied in all modern history. States that are unfriendly to us refuse strong, reliable relations with Russian manufacturers. Moreover, the ease of refusal is sometimes amazing. If we take the timber industry complex of the Russian Federation, then, for example, in the Scandinavian countries huge wood processing plants were built to use Russian raw materials. Foreign companies have invested huge amounts of money in production in Russia. However, foreign politicians act contrary to common sense and force businesses to refuse cooperation with Russia. This explains the relevance of the study. In our opinion, the Russian timber industry is one of the industries most affected by sanctions. There is no need to deny the obvious that high-tech equipment is foreign-made equipment. The technologies of Scandinavian timber harvesting by logging complexes have been perfectly adapted to Russian conditions and have allowed us to use our forest resources more rationally. We also use modern woodworking technologies from Europe. One of the most promising technologies today is CLT panels, which were developed by Austrian scientists from the Wood Industry Association in the 1990s. The purpose of our research is to analyze foreign and domestic low-rise and high-rise wooden housing construction, and to assess the prospects for the use of wooden materials in high-rise construction in the Russian Federation. The research methodology is based on a theoretical analysis of scientific publications aimed at solving the housing problem. The information and empirical basis for the study included regulatory documentation, scientific articles, publications in professional journals, and manufacturers’ websites. The objects of observation are construction organizations using wooden housing construction and manufacturers of high-quality house kits made from timber. The scientific novelty lies in the formation of the author’s approach to the problem of resettlement of the recognized emergency housing stock.
