DISSIPATIVE MODEL OF FRICTION AND MASS TRANSFER IN COUNTER-CURRENT PACKED COLUMNS

The processes of momentum and mass transfer in columns with random and structured packings with intensifiers in a counter-current film mode with gas are considered. Using known expressions for the average rate of the kinetic energy dissipation of the gas flow, a formula is obtained for calculating the average tangential friction stress on the interphase surface of the flowing film of the liquid phase that takes into account the energy dissipation components in the gas and liquid phases. The main experimental information for the calculation is the gas pressure drop in the packed bed. The obtained expression for energy dissipation in the gas phase is used in the expression for calculating the average mass transfer coefficient in the gas phase. Examples of calculations and comparison with experimental data as well as with calculations carried out via various empirical expressions for random and structured packings in the film mode are shown.
