INTERNAÇÕES HOSPITALARES POR DENGUE NO BRASIL ENTRE 2020 E 2024: UM ESTUDO ECOLÓGICO
Dengue is an arboviral disease with a significant impact on Brazilian public health, responsible for thousands of hospital admissions every year. This study aimed to describe and analyze hospital admissions due to dengue in Brazil between 2020 and 2024. It is an ecological, population-based time series study using secondary data from the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIH/SUS) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). To assess temporal trends, segmented log-linear regression modeling was applied using the Joinpoint software. The results showed a substantial increase in hospital admissions for dengue in all regions of the country, with a higher incidence among females. The Southeast region recorded the highest percentage of hospitalizations. The analyses revealed significant increasing trends in all regions. It is concluded that strengthening epidemiological surveillance, improving vector control, and implementing more effective public policies are essential measures to contain the spread of the disease, especially among vulnerable populations.
