After analyzing these studies, four categories were identified based on the Interpersonal Relations Theory: Orientation phase: Silence facilitates verbal communication by fostering introspection and trust, contributing to the bond described in the Interpersonal Relations Theory; Identification phase: Silence supports the emotional autonomy of the individual, aligning with Interpersonal Relations Theory emphasis on adapting to subjective needs; Exploitation phase: Silence encourages introspection and exploration of complex feelings, reflecting the projection of new objectives described in Interpersonal Relations Theory; Resolution phase: Silence provides serenity and spiritual comfort, facilitating acceptance of change, in line with the theory's focus on individuality and autonomy in care. In conclusion, silence transcends its technical function, emerging as a multifaceted resource that contributes to the humanization of care in palliative care, promoting comprehensive, person-centered car.
