PROPOSITIONAL UNFOLDING OF SACRED NAME AS A COGNITIVE MECHANISM OF TEXT FORMATION
One of the most significant features of modern cognitive linguistics is its interest in exploring complicated categories of religious consciousness, sacredness being a fundamental one. The study of sacred onomatology (Names of God) viewed as the essential aspect of sacredness is relevant for cognitive onomastics and text linguistics. In the former case the attention is paid to how proper names function in various discourse contexts, in the latter one - a problem of categorial text modeling and a problem of text formation. The aim of the present research is to analyze a cognitive mechanism of biblical text formation (King James Bible). The author proves that sacred Names possess folded propositions as their cognitive correlates and interprets the formation of the Bible as the propositional unfolding of sacred Names. The author offers the algorithm of language analysis consisting of three steps: 1) onomastic information analysis of a sacred Name; 2) analysis of correlative links between a folded proposition represented by a sacred Name and an unfolded proposition represented by a sacred-onomatological situation; 3) analysis of language units representing unfolded propositions. The paper shows that language means representing non-obligatory propositional components convey conceptual meanings and play an important role in rendering the sacred biblical text.
