Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of novel thiazolidinedione derivatives

As a result of considerable synthetic research and synthetic value, the number of heterocyclic molecules is rising fast. Among many heterocyclic rings, the thiazolidinedione ring system and especially, 2,4- thiazolidinedione has long been investigated as the key pharmacophore for synthesizing various drugs having varied biological activities. The synthesis of designed compound was attained by the reaction of benzohydrazide (0.01mmol) with differently substituted aromatic aldehydes (0.01mmol) in the presence of mercaptoacetic acid . The characterization was done by MP (melting point), TLC (thin layer chromatography), FT-IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR. On the basis of docking study compound N10 (8.7 kcal/mol) drug Ampicillin shows highest binding affinity toward S. aureus tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase enzyme compared to standard The ADME properties of the compounds are also assessed by SWISS ADME online tool and all the compounds are within the limit..All the synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro MIC and MBC.Compound N6 emerged to be the most active compounds against all tested micro-organism. The study thus serves as an attempt to progress toward the discovery of novel lead molecule for antimicrobial drug.
