Workstation equipment layout optimization for enhanced human-robot collaboration in electric vehicle battery disassembly

Energy consumption and ergonomics are important issues in human-robot collaboration, and workstation layout optimization is closely related to these challenges. This paper proposes an effective solution for the equipment layout in the human-robot collaborative workstation. Firstly, robot energy consumption and human workload during the production process are analyzed and modeled. Secondly, a multi-objective optimization problem is established by leveraging these two objective functions. Finally, a retired electric vehicle battery disassembly station, which is a typical human-robot collaboration scene, is taken as an example to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The results demonstrate significant improvements in both energy and fatigue reduction. This study contributes to the design and optimization of human-robot collaboration workstations by implementing layout solutions that focus on energy efficiency and ergonomic benefits.
