First surgical epicardial implantation of an extravascular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator lead for Ebstein anomaly in the United States
Ebstein anomaly (EA) is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by apical displacement of the tricuspid valve and subsequent right ventricular failure. Invasive interventions are often needed to treat these structural defects and the associated supraventricular and ventricular arrythmias that commonly occur. We present a patient with EA who received a bioprosthetic tricuspid valve implant and the first reported surgical epicardial implantation of an extravascular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (EV-ICD; Aurora EV-ICD, Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN) lead in the United States.
