Optimizing CoCrNi Single Track Geometry in Directed Energy Deposition: A Regression-Based Approach to Laser Power and Scan Speed Control

CoCrNi medium entropy alloys exhibit exceptional mechanical properties, making them ideal for advanced applications in aerospace, biomedical, and energy sectors. This study explores the influence of laser power and scan speed on the track geometry of CoCrNi single tracks produced via Directed Energy Deposition (DED). Second-degree polynomial regression models were developed using a factorial Design of Experiments approach to quantify the relationships between process parameters and track dimensions. Results indicated that laser power and scan speed have a significant impact on track width and height, with increased laser power leading to greater width and moderate scan speeds optimizing height. These insights advance the understanding of CoCrNi in DED processes and aid in parameter optimization for high-performance applications.
