Neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas with liver metastases. Case report

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are biologically active neoplasms that often remain undiagnosed due to a prolonged absence of clinical manifestations or non-specific symptoms. According to SEER data, 50% of patients are diagnosed with regional or distant metastases at the time of NET detection. In Russia, the lack of clear statistical data on NET incidence complicates the development of diagnostic algorithms and effective treatment strategies. Given the rarity of this disease, the limited clinical experience, and the scarcity of publications on the topic in Russian language, presenting a clinical case of a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET) with liver metastases and late diagnosis is highly relevant. Objective. To describe a clinical case of a patient with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET) and liver metastases. Clinical Case. This article presents a detailed clinical description, diagnostic approaches, and treatment strategies for a 53-year-old male patient with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET) and liver metastases. The diagnosis was established only at the stage of hepatic metastases, while the primary pancreatic lesion was identified much later. Conclusion. This clinical case highlights the insufficient awareness among clinicians regarding NETs, as well as the knowledge gaps in diagnostic methods and treatment principles for this condition. Improved early detection strategies and better understanding of NET pathophysiology are essential for optimizing patient outcomes.
