Kidney Involvement in Erdheim-Chester Disease
Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare histiocytosis belonging to the L group,S1 with an annual incidence of fewer than 0.5 cases/1’000’000 adults in Western Europe.1 Growing awareness and improved recognition have led to a consistently increasing number of diagnoses: over 2000 cases have been recognised to date, and over 600 patients are currently under follow-up worldwide –likely an underestimate of the true prevalence.
