Modelling the impact of conversion of trunk roads into expressway on the operational efficiency of road network
With the increase in the number of motor vehicles, the transformation of urban arterial roads into expressway to alleviate road network pressure has become increasingly important. There are numerous instances of urban arterial roads being converted into expressway. Nevertheless, more quantitative research needs to be conducted to examine the impact of road transformation on the operational efficacy of the entire road network. The operational efficacy of the road network is examined in this paper through simulation analysis of the effect of converting various trunk roads into expressway. The impact model of the operational efficiency of the road network is summarized to provide a quantitative analysis model for the study of the impact of transforming urban arterial roads into expressway on the efficiency of the road network. The simulation result of Jianhua Street in Shijiazhuang after the primary road is converted into an expressway serve as evidence of the model's precision. The quantitative assessment of the effects of converting the primary road into an expressway on the overall operational efficiency of the road network is conducted, offering a scientific analytical approach to the optimization of the urban road network.
