Novel Multiple Objective Sliding Mode Control Technique for Bi-Directional EV Chargers Supporting Grid Ancillary Services

This paper proposes a novel control technique for bi-directional electric vehicle (EV) chargers, leveraging multiple objective sliding mode control (MOSMC). The proposed method aims to address the growing demand for effective grid integration of EVs while supporting essential grid ancillary services such as voltage and frequency support. By dynamically adjusting charging/discharging rates and power flow direction, the proposed control technique is capable to enhance grid stability, energy efficiency, and support ancillary services while adhering to charging requirements. To validate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method, a series of simulation tests are conducted. The results are carried out to demonstrate the ability of the proposed technique to effectively manage bi-directional EV chargers while providing grid ancillary services, showcasing its potential for real-world applications.
