Game-Theoretic Method for Integrated Planning of Electric Power Distribution Systems and Private Renewable Distributed Generation

This paper introduces a new game-theoretic method for the integrated planning of electric power distribution systems and private renewable distributed generation (DG). The proposed method combines multi-objective optimization techniques with game theory to address potential conflicts of interest among various private stakeholders when jointly planning the expansion of the distribution system and the integration of renewable DG. Furthermore, employing the Shapley value ensures a fair allocation of benefits based on each participant’s marginal contributions, thereby fostering effective and sustainable cooperation. Results highlight the advantages of collaboration since, in the cooperative scenario, the system’s overall costs are reduced by 11.37% compared to the noncooperative scenario. Moreover, at an individual level, the utility achieves an 8.69% reduction in costs, while the renewable DG owner experiences a 116.05% increase in benefits. These findings underscore the potential of the proposed method to maximize total system value, align incentives, and promote the efficient integration of renewable DG into the distribution system.
