A Single-Phase Single-Stage Boost Inverter with Enhanced Voltage Gain using Switched-Inductor Cell

This paper presents an improved single-phase, single-stage boost inverter topology with enhanced voltage gain by incorporating a switched-inductor cell. Traditional voltagesource inverters (VSIs) suffer from the inherent step-down characteristic, limiting their applicability in low-voltage sources such as photovoltaic systems. To address this, the proposed Boost Inverter with Switched Inductor Cell (BISIC) replaces the conventional boost inductor in BI6 with a switched-inductor structure, achieving higher voltage conversion efficiency and reduced switching stress. A simulation circuit is constructed to validate the proposed topology, demonstrating a significant voltage gain improvement compared to conventional single inductorbased designs. The results confirm that the BISIC can provide a voltage gain nearly double that of a single inductor-based boost inverter at 0.83 modulation index, making it suitable for applications requiring high voltage conversion, such as renewable energy systems and electric vehicles.
