Investigation of Electromagnetic and Dynamic Characteristics for On-Board Superconducting Coil Quenching on Superconducting EDS System
Superconducting coil (SCC) quenching is a key concern in the field of superconductivity. Due to the uncertainty of their overload and low temperature system, the characteristics of superconducting electrodynamic suspension (SCEDS) under quenching conditions is still concerned. Moreover, the effect under cooperative induction of propulsion and damping systems is considered. In this regard, the electromagnetic and dynamic characteristics of SCEDS bogie are analyzed according to the phenomenon of on-board SCC quenching. Firstly, a numerical calculation model based on electromechanical coupling including the whole electromagnetic system is developed for SCEDS. The electromagnetic force measured by SCEDS in Japan is compared to verify the accuracy of the mathematical model. Secondly, an equivalent experimental platform is built to measure the magnetic flux of null flux coil (NFC) in SCC quenching process. Thirdly, the electromagnetic and force characteristics of the system during SCC quenching are explored. Subsequently, the 5-DOF dynamic response of the bogie after SCC quenching is investigated and shows a trend of divergence. Finally, damping suppression and protection strategy to avoid SCC quenching instability is summarized. The analysis results can provide a reference for the emergency protection of SCEDS.
