Dissipativity-Based Decentralized Robust Output Feedback Control for Finite-Time Boundedness of Uncertain Interconnected Systems

This paper presents the design of decentralized robust output feedback controllers for transient performance improvement in uncertain time-varying interconnected systems. For uncertain linear subsystems described within a convex polytope and subjected to exogenous disturbances, we design reduced-order time-varying dynamic controllers that restrict the system states below a specified threshold, while ensuring dissipativity of the closed-loop subsystems over a predefined finite time interval. Using the augmented system-controller dynamics, sufficient conditions for designing decentralized finite-time dissipative dynamic controllers are given in terms of differential linear matrix inequalities (DLMIs). The proposed dissipativity-based approach offers a generalized framework for designing finite-time controllers, encompassing performance indices such as passivity and finite L2-gain, as well as static output feedback controllers as special cases. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated through numerical simulations.
